Surprisingly, the theme from the book is kept the same throughout the movie, and many of the scenes have been filmed true to the book, a relief for all hardcore fans who would to see their favorite book disagree with the original story. Josh Boone directed the movie, and Scott Neustadter wrote the screenplay. Their friendship quickly evolves, and the two basically become inseparable.
The plot centers on the tragic love story of two teenagers who were both diagnosed with cancer and meet while participating in a local Support Group. Also, Green himself has a cameo in the movie. The two have previously co-starred in the movie Divergent. The starring characters are Hazel Grace Lancaster and Augustus Waters, who will be played by Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort respectively.
